Human rights activist and organiser of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday morning escaped gunshots, fleeing the protest grounds.
As early as 7am, security operatives, comprising police and soldiers took over the protest grounds.
However, in a viral video, Sowore and other protesters could be seen running for their lives.

The protesters had vowed to march to Aso Rock Villa to demand the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Police had warned the protest organisers to steer clear of the Aso Rock Villa precinct.
